What the F**k! 1
It just goes to show you that it doesn't matter where you write your stuff or what you write it on when you read about the 'commuter who wrote his fantasy novel on his phone'. All credit goes to Peter Brett on tapping out his first novel, 'The Painted Man', on his cellphone while traveling to work. While other people read or slept on the subway, he sat tapping out the words on the small keypad.
You don't always need to be at a computer keyboard to put in some writing time, although that helps! The trusty old notebook and pencil comes in handy and should always be a staple part of the writer's diet. Cellphones and iPods are equally as useful in having the capability to jot notes down.
The thing is: get the writing done using whatever tools are available and worry about the fancy stuff later!
But writing on your phone is not the most amazing part of the article: No, it's the fact that he's on the verge of a multi-million dollar movie deal! The planned trilogy of books are reported to be the next big fantasy epic!
Damn, that is sweet! There's hope for my stories yet. Keep plugging away, I tell myself. But wait, maybe it's the wrong cellphone I'm using!
